Hi Guys l am ready for my build and now l am in the midst of ordering the parts.
What combination of transformer + various components would you suggest for me to build a 68 clone with the brown sound there plus push into more into gain territory. Will be comparing it to my SLO 100 that l own but want more bottom end and definition rather than pre amp gain mosquito sound.
Is the voltage change selector that George offers, has anybody built that and heard a different in the voltage drop.
thanks for your help
Cheers
Yngve

Why not order George's '68 spec kit?

"By popular demand, we are trying out a complete early 68 era parts package option. This includes everything needed to build to EVH specs. Tubes, head case etc. Please note that no step by step instructions are included. But layouts and wiring diagrams are."

I just bought the 68 Spec. Where are the layouts & wiring diagrams located?

You can find what's available there. I don't think a full, completely wired layout exists (tranny wiring and whatnot) so you'll have to ask questions and research the forum. Search for some of Mark's (Rockstah) uber-long build threads on his quest for EVH-ness. You can also search for "Ralle".

Does the 67 and 68 Metro Kit come with instructions like the JTM 45 does?

Not as far as I know. The 67/68 is primarily sold as a barebones kit not a full kit like the JTM45 or '69 100w kit George offers. The 12000 EVH option was more like a an experimental add-on because there was a certain amount of demand for it. You're best bet as I mentioned earlier is to start with Billybatz' '67-'68 layouts and study pictures and read posts from other folks that have already built theirs and just ask questions when you get stuck. Quite a few have built theirs that way.
As an aside, there are instructions for the '69 kit but they're not as detailed as the JTM45 instructions and the '69 is laid out differently than the '67-'68. George had a poll not too long ago as to what folks wanted to see
