is this the same as IEC plug socket found on pretty much every amp out there???

The Bulgin connectors are a vintage connector (fitted in marshalls up to around 1976 poss. 1977) and are now deemed unsafe by EU regs (not sure how they stand up in the states). These are becoming scarce, and are rather expensive. Definitely only for genuine old amps.

so is the standard option just a normal IEC socket in the back of the amp?
