McMurdo octal sockets on Metroamp chassis?

Post by shakti » Wed Apr 21, 2010 7:00 am

Does anyone know if NOS McMurdo octal sockets will fit Metroamp steel chassis? The brown McMurdos appear to be the era correct type for the ca. '67 and onwards amps. In the store, it says that only Amphenols will fit the steel chassis, but the black Amphenols appear more correct for '66-'67 builds.

Depends on their mounting specs. I have used various old sockets with the steel chassis. As long as the socket diameter is right (1 1/8", I think) and the mounting holes are close enough, you're good to go... I also have some snap-ring Amphenols which won't fit the steel chassis - at least not without a file and some sandpaper.
