I need to tighten the bass/flub

Should I add a resonance control or try to cut bass with coupling caps? Does resonance only add low end or can it subtract also?
resonance only adds bass gain and the amp becomes less tight.
try 1n/2.2n in the first 2 stages,which amp are you talking about?
