Pics of my 1987x point to point board!

Post by gnugear » Tue Dec 30, 2003 2:11 pm

I spent the good part of the holidays putting together (wiring) my 1987x plexi reissue. It was a pain, but a lot of fun. I tried firing it up and quickly blew a fuse. Wouldn't you know it ... freakin Radio Shack doesn't carry the type used in the reissues. :(

George came to the rescue and is sending me some spares along with some other parts that I ordered.

While I'm waiting, I decided to install a post phase inverter master volume because I prefer the tone to attenuators at low volume. I still don't know if it's going to work, but I thought I'd post a pic anyways ... because I'm so proud!! I can't stop soldering!! I think I'm going to clean up some more of the wires while I'm waiting. :D

Thanks for all your help George, you're a class act!!

I had the fuse-blow thing happen to me a couple times due to bad tubes. I also had the same thing happen to me at Radio Shack where they didn't carry the metric sized fuses! They have every other usuless fuse in there store but wouldn't ya know it... no metrics!! I had to order some because my Radio Shack by my house didn't carry them. I HATE RADIO SHACK!

George had me turn it on without the power tubes, so I guess I can rule out the "bad tube" theory!!
