To confirm: The blue wire on V5 pin 5 and the Green wire on V6 pin 5 that come from under the turret board need to be twisted together and not run parrallel to the OT wires.. Correct?
correct amundo!
Edited 2/4/08 : Received my Full Wire Kit today. How long can these leads to Pin 5 be? In order for me to keep them from running parallel with the OT wires, I will have to run parallel with the edge of the turret board that is near the pots and then turn and go towards the power tubes which means I will be right underneath the diodes? Will that be a problem? Or how should I route the new wires?
Thanks!

make them short enough to reach without being tight. long enough but not much slack. they will cross over OT wires thats fine. just not too much where they run parallel.

VK - Someone asked you about an electronics store. There are better places than Radio Shack in KC. If you are in town during the day there is an Electronics Supply store at 41st & Main. They should have just about anything you need at this point for your mods.

Finally, found some time to replace lead wires to Pin 5 V5 and P5 V6. How's this look?

Hope to have mp3s of .022u on V1b by tomorrow night.

220k resistor on V2 Pin2:
Image

MP3's (Note: delayed playing in the intro of each clip so you can hear the amp at idle, on .022 clip a distant tunnel howling sound, and then it went away some with the 220k)

Changes made before these mp3's:
- Mains Filtering back to 32u and the V3 PI Filtering back to 16u
- Moved the feedback wire up and away from V3 and shortened black wire on impedance switch.
- Replaced lead wires to Pin 5 V5 and P5 V6

.022u on v1b instead of .0022u

220k resistor on V2 Pin2 with .022u on v1b:
http://www.soundclick.com/player/single ... i&newref=1

To me the .022u made it fatter sounding and I like that better.
The 220k resistor my initial thoughts standing in front of the amp is a little more gain and after listening to the recording maybe a hint of a little increase in the highs.

My soundclick main page if above links don't work:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... dID=717849

Looks like I will be leaving the .022u in. :D

Next up:
0. Quit my job so I can work on amps all day long.....I wish!
1. Put the Mustards back in. Make MP3's.
2. Put the new Mercury choke in. Make MP3's.
3. Put the PPIMV in. Make MP3's Late At Night!
4. Make it a 2203 for more Sustain from the Gain. Make MP3's.
5. Try out different speakers. Make MP3's.
6. Try a Mercury OT. Make MP3's.

Hey VK

Both clips sounded just fantastic!

To get to them, though, I had to go to your soundclick main page and search them out in the list (OK, not much of a search!). However, the links you posted here in your last message won't work for me.

Hey Will!

Thanks Man!

Curious? Which clip do you think sounds best?

And Thanks for the heads up on the links not working. I edited the post with a link to my main page in case others have the same issue.

I am leaning toward the 2nd clip. I hear the same thing that you do.
A tad more brighter

looking good. sounds good. i like the second clip as well. nice playing too.

so yer filtering is 32u on the mains? i thought u were going to go back to 50u on the mains and 100u screens?

u should try the superbass tone stack while u are at it. 250p/56k and then shared cathode too.

at this point it all sounds good. now u are tweaking for your setup - speakers, guitar etc.
