Protecting my aluminum chassis

Post by gnugear » Mon May 31, 2004 11:08 pm

George made these really cool swirls in my aluminum chassis ... and they look so good I want to keep them for the face of the amp! What can I put on it so it won't scratch and mess up the pattern? Will polyeurothane work?

Hmmmm..... (scratches chin).

That's a good question. I would head to Home Depot or someplace like that and see what's available. I don't know what the standard clear protection material is. Or even if there is a standard.

I'll check into it as well. Let me know what you find out.

BTW Glad you like the swirls, I dug them too.

I was just looking at some outdoor tables at a business complex and the tops had a similar swirl pattern. It almost felt like there was a plasticised material on it, but I'm sure it was some sort of spray. I still need to go to HomeDepot, but I'm hoping they have something that won't yellow.

I'll report back.

Make sure you clean the chassis really good before you spray anything on it. You could even polish it some. The better it looks before sealant the better.

Sorry to state the obvious, just want it to look great.

OK now I'm REALLY starting to think that bmf5150 is the infamous "Guest". I've seen at least 5 posts by him that were not logged in.

Before I start bashing, anyone else suspect the same thing?

Jon,

No, it couldn't be Stan. You know why? Because he doesn't talk out of his ass all the time! :D

Also, Stan does have a forum ID AND he put his name under each post. Either he's just sloppy and neglects to log in first or the forum software screws up on him. I've had that happen to me sometimes too.

Either way, Stan, try to log in next time so we can scratch you off our shit list!
