There are clips coming. I gave my ears a little rest over the weekend and now it seems I gotta relearn the parts....

Here's the current layout:

Sounds pretty good to me and now it does that SCOM thing too, although I still don't have a proper LP to do SCOM. Will see if I can find somebody who will lend me one. Off course there was a Slash AFD one posted on the local used pages over the weekend......

I swapped the position of the second pot and the 470k+470p/470k. I realised that when I swapped the stages around I only did it, like, half way. Now it is fully swapped.
So now it's:
2k7/.68/.022/470p+470k/5n
10k/.022/470p+470k/470k
3k3/.68/.022
820/.47
100k/.1

It does seem like my amp is quite ok with 3k3.

Hi Cofee, i tried this almost exact settings last week and the 10k/.22 its not ok on the #36, it gives you the mid honk but it takes away a lot of bottom end, try .47uf instead

I remember to hear int a interview or something that Frank said that he was interested in a mod that can give you all the sounds without the channel switching (not very implemented in that era, remember that Tim and Frank modded the amps before even Soldano were buildind the SLO) just by rollinng off the guitar volumegluke wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 3:13 amWell in all fairness I will also try anything under the sun to see if that gets me there......sonoman1979 wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 11:43 amNo probs. just curious to see if someone did a recording with similar settings, but also think that ideally is best to get the right tone with the settings you are using.
Mostly I'd like to know what Frank Levi's idea behind this mod was. So far it seems I ain't got a clue...... I keep modding in circles trying 2-3 things a day.
Last week i changed my mind about the #36 and started to add some new ways to look (ear) it, by listeting the AFD double mono Slash album i made a couple of years ago and posted here (just open any daw remove the izzy channel and paste the slash channel so you get a double mono song) i realized that the mod its big and yet punchy, mid focus but not wah honky like

My experience too. With the .1 presence a .47 or a .68 is needed to fill out the low end.snakepit86 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 11:48 pm

I thought that was more about his later mods, but not sure.snakepit86 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 11:55 pm

I tend to look at mods like versions of "something". To me this is kinda like a 2203/SL hybrid. The 2203 had already been around for a while, but it seems to me that in LA people preferred the Jose or Lee Jackson or Caswell or Levi thing to the stock 2203s. Still features of the 2203 layout are present in several of the mods.

My amp did not like moving the cap to the 10k. I did up the peaker to 1n though and now it sounds like this:CoffeeTones wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 2:49 pm2k7/.68/.022/1n+470k/5n
