Re: S.I.R. 100W SuperLead Schematic pt. II
7 odd years later I find myself here again lol. Bought a Synergy preamp, and decided that I wanted a module that was 36ish. So I bought an old Randall SL+ module, and have been busy tweaking for the past 2 weeks. I have read about 600 pages of this thread in that time. Ahhhh....
I am about 90% there with it. Sounding really good and closer with this than I ever got before. I will post up some clips soon when I am a bit closer.

Well here it is. First clip of my Randall MTS SL+ Module/Synergy SYN-1/JVM410HJS power section.
The base tone is pretty much there IMO but it’s not 100%. There are little things in the tone I hear that aren’t AFD authentic.

Hi guys, I hope you are well.
I have been trying to set the reverb effect so that it sounds as natural as possible but I have not succeeded, I have been using the one that comes by default with SONAR. Is there a plug-in that you recommend to me, and even better with the suggested setting, especially for the intro of SCOM.

Thank you very much for your help.

Mate I am no expert and actually haven't tried to replicate the SCOM verb, but I have Waves H-Reverb and it is soooo good. And only $35 USD at the moment. I would be very surprised if it couldn't cop it.

You want to set your reverb length to the beat of the music. There are 60,000 ms per minute, so you take 60,000 then divide that by your song's BPM. So let's say your playing to a song that it is 120 bpm with a 4/4 time signature, so your going to set it to a quarter note length to start out. The faster the song, the shorter the reverb. The slower the song, the longer the reverb.sonoman1979 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:23 pmHi guys, I hope you are well.

Here's the math:
60,000 / 120 (bpm) = .500 ms (quarter note)
So start out trying a .500 ms setting on reverb and see how it sounds. If it sounds too long, then cut it in half for eighth notes, .250 ms. Rinse and repeat if the reverb still sticks out. The opposite applies if you feel the reverb sounds too short, lengthen it to 1 ms for half notes, and so on.
Delays are much shorter than reverbs, and when you start setting it to 16th notes your getting in delay territory and your probably better off going with a delay. But maybe not, just let your ears tell you what you need to do. Tweak until it sounds right, and that's pretty much it. I hope this helps!

It sticks out a little, especially on faster parts like the 'chopping' part. So maybe try shortening it?sonoman1979 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 7:41 pmAnd how about this reverb? or is too dry?

What kind of reverb are you using? Are you using it on the audio track insert or on a bus?
I would set your reverb up on an Aux track and send part of the guitar track on a bus to it. Your bus's volume will act as a wet/dry mix and use the Aux track's volume to control the volume of the reverb. I would also put an EQ on the Aux track's insert with a low pass filter on it set around 7kHz to 7500Hz (adjust to taste). Your reverb should never be as bright as the source track. After all, it's a reflection of the sound, so in real life this is never as loud or as bright as the source sound. Then play with your settings until you get a sound you like. You want just enough reverb to make it sound like it has a little bit of space around it.
It wouldn't hurt to import in a comp track to compare it to. The best one would be to use the "Slash Only" for WTJ from YouTube. I think it has the reverb on it. If you can't do that, then just use the album. But it will be a little bit harder to determine the reverb from a mix then it would if it was solo' d. Then try to adjust your reverb to match what you hear. Good luck!

Unique, I'm using a reverb from Sonitus:fx suite, and is on the track.
I'm really a total noob using recording software. I will try to apply that to the recording and experiment a bit.
Thanks for the advices.

Your welcome. You can probably search Google and find out exactly how to set up a bus for your DAW. The concept is really simple, you just add an Aux track to your session. Then insert a bus on one of the 'send' inserts of your recorded track, and send it to your Aux track. Next, match the input of your Aux track with the bus you just added to your guitar track. Then tweak the settings to taste. To get creative, you can also make your Aux track a stereo track so you can pan your reverb and see how you like it. Or not, and just keep it simple with a mono Aux track. Either way, next, you will want to add a Master track to control the overall level of both tracks. You can also add plugins to the Master track if you want to tweak your mix overall.sonoman1979 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:25 pmUnique, I'm using a reverb from Sonitus:fx suite, and is on the track.

Keep in mind, if you make your Aux track a stereo track, you will need to bounce it out as a stereo track to keep your panning image you created. If you bounce a stereo track out as a mono track the reverb will not sound the same as it did as a stereo track prior. It's just something you have to play around with to learn the ins and outs and see what you like.
Also, remember to drop the volume on both tracks by 3dB to keep your level. Then you might want to drop the volume on your reverb a little more. Just use your ears to get a good level and remember that your reverb shouldn't be as loud as your guitar. It's a spatial effect and not an additional sound source. I hope this helps!

If your reverb plugin has a mix or blend knob, you can put that straight on the track. If not, then you should use an aux track as Unique suggested.sonoman1979 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 5:30 pmThis information is very useful, thank you very much! I will keep experimenting

Re: S.I.R. 100W SuperLead Schematic pt. II
You can, but you lose some control. You want to put it on an Aux track, even if your plugin has a mix slider. There's so much more you can do with it when it's on an Aux track. Also, when you put a plugin on the insert you have to be aware of the order, and with what other plugins your using it with. Some don't play nice with others, and can affect the sound of other plugins before them. Plugins are finicky with their order on the inserts.bulldozer1984 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:58 amIf your reverb plugin has a mix or blend knob, you can put that straight on the track.
