Yeah i have done a lot of messing about with the Jose mod,

That spec is good, I found that SCOM worked best with 3k3.68u, but then NT didtn't seem to like it lol, so i settled on 3k.68u it seemed to work best for all, but it might be different with your setup.
The main problem I have with SCOM is that my "LP" guitar is not a Les Paul, but a Nik Huber with a P90 in the neck. I was gonna change it to a APH-1 but apparently it is not routed big enough to fit the HB. I have other guitars with a neck HB but they are all different scale and woods etc....

So now I only have to get a Fryette Power Station, a 1960AV/BV and a Slash LP......
Just try your other guitar with a HB in the neck to see if your are in the ballpark.

Hi guys. I have been trying different EQ and gain settings. I recently saw a Johan Segeborn video where he use a SIR #39 amp and he share his settings and I think I like it more this way (I tried similar settings to Segeborn except the Master that is only on 3.5. He mentioned that had Master high). What do you think?

Just guitar clips:

Guitar clps with a little post recording EQ

And here a tried to make it work with a WTTJ backing track (vocals and drums)

That was rather very unsuccessful..... I actually prefer the P90.....

Oh well gain level is now ok, but the tone is a bit to full. Sort of missing that woody notch on the low F in Nightrain.

He says AFD and Tim Caswell in the same sentence....... I thought we passed that 742 pages ago...

Duke gave us his settings so why bother with this dude?

You could try a .47u over the 820r, it will tighten the amp up a bit,

Will do! I got a Fryette Power Station on the way so I can turn up a bit more too.

I'm doing a VH thing next and my hearing is not up for more of this loud amp thing......

Uhmm well it was just an idea to try, maybe could work for somebody but if you already have the settings that works for you then great!

Thanks. Gain was on 2.5. and master on 3.5 I think is necessary to have master very high for these settings to work.

No offence intended. Guess I just work the other way around, trying to get my amp to sound that way at around those settings.

No probs. just curious to see if someone did a recording with similar settings, but also think that ideally is best to get the right tone with the settings you are using.

Well in all fairness I will also try anything under the sun to see if that gets me there......

Mostly I'd like to know what Frank Levi's idea behind this mod was. So far it seems I ain't got a clue...... I keep modding in circles trying 2-3 things a day.

I think you have already achieved good results. The best advice I could give you is to stick with the version that you liked more and make minimal adjustments to get best results. Otherwise it will be an endless journey hehe.
Keep in mind that Slash has a very particular way of playing and it is part of his sound and also the fact that a a lot of their songs were recorded using his Les Paul copy made by Derrig, which according to him had special sonic characteristics.

Well, Duke clips are spot on and I doubt he has a Derrig, but yeah I struggle a bit with the way Slash plays things too.

Although the journey seems endless at times I also do get to try out a bunch of stuff that I want to do that might not be 100% related to AFD but more about Marshall mod'ing in general and other mods from that period.
