Hey Stan. Take the wire from the center leg of the treble pot, solder it to a 1/4" Jack to the "tip" terminal on it, then connect the sleeve terminal to ground. That's it, you're done! Then plug the output of your preamp into this jack and PRESTO! Instant Marshall 100 Watt power amp! Simple huh? 8)

Now excuse my amp/electronics/this forum newbie-ness, but got what might be a stupid question to ask..

but on this same kind of idea, can i just plug a preamp (e.g rack unit preamp) into the normal input of a head, and use both the preamp and power amp of the head? So as to still have the head un-modified?

Sorry, im new to this kind of stuff

You can, but you gotta watch the output level of the preamp unit you're using so that the amp will stay clean and not get distorted by the preamp. Set the preamp output level so that it equals the signal coming into the preamp, which is called "unity gain". Check your levels by listening to the amp and check it with the preamp in the chain, and with the preamp bypassed. You shouldn't hear anyvolume change at all between the two.

Hope this helps.
