So, it came today. Basically a hot rodded JMP. Sounds awesome to me. Can go from late 60's Lead to modern high gain and everything between.

quick glance, every stages 820/.68 CC .0022, first stage CC followed by a .0022 to ground
.1 PI coupling
47k slope
first plate has a cap followed by a resistor to ground

edit : I'd expect "crazy" plate plates values like at least 220k or up to 330k for1a and maybe 150k for 1b

There's a lot of shit going on in this thing. Especially with the three toggle switches and the gain pots.

i wonder if it was inspired by this schematic floating around.

yes for sure but we got to start somewhere ain't we?
by the way first switch has a 82k but I don't see where it goes, probably ground (?)
and it looks like there's a jose style master on switch too

edit : this was a reply to fourt6and2

The era switch is tied to the master volume, which looks to be from a 2203. In the middle position, it is defeated. In the right position it sounds like a Jose Master. In the left position it's like a modern high-gainer. No diodes that I can see. Not sure what those black resistor-type-things are. They are black and the inside, underneath the black cover they are neon yellow/orange.

The bright switches bring in a bright cap in one position and in the other boosts the gain and mids. A lot.

Next time I have the chassis out I'll take some notes... :)

It's like the Cameron Jose, but tweeked a little. You could say Mark was ripped off.

I was just looking at all the pics on your link.

That's some very nice handiwork with that Chupa.

Also, that's some very nice work you did with your Metro build.

How's the idling noise level , or the hum level, when comparing the two?

How about compared to that Diezel?

No noise at all. Not even any background hiss. There is a slight hum when you turn the master up all the way. But nothing you really notice. My Metro clone is noiser. The Diezel is dead quiet all the time.

That's impressive if it is that quiet.

Don't think Mark was ripped off too badly to be honest, in fact he may have even had the last laugh on it. that circuit that the chupa uses was a one off, more than it was a rip off, and a bad sounding one.

whats there to ripp off anyway, there's 4 or 5 guys making serious money and names off of virtually the same circuit that other Mark posted above.

you see those two things on the board? one has a black sleeve, the other has a reddish orange sleeve... those are two Zeners, with a different voltage ratings.

I think it sounds pretty damn good. And how do you know which circuit the Chupa uses and that it was a one-off? And I don't think Mark Cameron was ripped off, either. But for different reasons. 1, the Chupa is based off of Jose Arredondo's work, not Mark Cameron's. 2, Mark Cameron no longer mods amps, nor builds them. Even if the Chupa was based off his designs, he ain't selling them any more. So it's not like he's losing any business. 3, Mark Cameron still has amps in his possession that people have been waiting to get back for years with no luck. So if anybody is ripping off Mark Cameron, it's Mark Cameron.

And I didn't know those two components on the board were Zeners. Cool. Sounds great to me, especially at only $750! ;)
