I installed the ppimv on a guy's 1974 Marshall on the back panel but now he wants it on the front. I did a little research and found an old thread here where it sounds like putting it in one of the input jacks is a bad idea and introduces noise. There was mention of putting it in the presence hole and moving the presence to the back.
What is the best option or should I avoid moving the ppimv to the front completely?
Thanks!!!!

As long as you are using good quality shielded cable you should be fine using one of the input jack holes. Moving it to the presence pot position would probably be the best spot though.

Both of my 1987's have larmar in the presence hole, and presence on the back.
On my recently completed and rebuilt for the 3rd time (was a JTM45, then a 6l6 2204, then blew the trans,) now 1986 I tried the rich mod on a PEC as George recommends, also on the presence hole.
M-e-r-r-e-n OT, Classictone trans..not any more noise than the others and I'm not the cleanest builder in the world.
