WIMA in a 20 watt?

Post by MiniMajor » Sat Mar 09, 2019 1:33 am

Hey all,

I’ve just come into a 2061x that breaks up too early, even with a replaced OT. I’ve changed the Rp/Rk of V1 to 220k/1K5 (shared cathode), retuned the Bass channel cap values, raised voltages just a hair via dropping string, and put in some long plate Mullard/Yugo AX7’s. All of that has helped “audio congestion” and are steps in the right direction. Next move is a cap job. I’m sitting on a set of WIMA TFM’s that I had earmarked for a metal panel 1987 build.

I was curious if anyone has come across a 20 watt Marshall with Wima caps in them? I’ve found photos of a .1 WIMA TFF in the pi of a 2022, but I’m inquiring about a full on .022 TFM’s and mustards, like a ‘69 Super Lead or 1987?
Everything sounds better with volume!
