Here is the '68 12 Series amp. It's a clean guitar loop reamped and recorded on the 500v and 400v settings.

I have a SM57 on the cab as you can see and I blended in a touch of the audio from my camera for some room sound.

The 57 is going through a Mackie Onyx mic pre and into my RME. Recorded in Nuendo. I combined the audio and video in Vegas.

I'll be honest, many other clips here on the forum get much closer to the VH brown sound. I could have EQ'ed these tracks for early VH, but thought it better to accurately capture the sound of the amp. As if you were standing here in the shop playing it.
I will say, there is more hair, or sizzle when you're standing in front of it.

George that sounds killer!

if i recall i played all these licks in nuendo using amplitube. i then removed the amp and then sent you the direct guitar track, which sounded very strange with no amp on it! i wondered how it would sound knowing that an amp lends itself to the way you play. you move and groove with it so to speak and actually adjust to get sounds out of it. amazing to hear it!

its very kewl to hear it through your amp!

funny i haven't been at the shop yet but Ive played there!

Do you like the 500V or 400v better? I didn't adjust the volume, so 400V is about 2db quieter.

i think i liked the 500v better! i think maybe cause its louder but again the 400v tap has alittle more teeth. a chewier sound to it. both sound great.

silicone resistors in the B+ line i see? (8.2k and 10k or what is that position called? )

.. Your right that was amazing how the chops sounded without you being there in relation to the amp... Very cool indeed.. I like the 400V,..

IF I am following the conversation correctly. Mark you played and recorded the licks clean? George then reamped the recording to line level back into his 68 amp at the shop.

George the amp sounds great, I prefer the 400V for the brown tone more teeth and little looser. If somebody can't hear ED in that tone then they need to buy a Dual Recto and play NU-metal.

You have it right. Mark recorded just the clean, unprocessed guitar sound. I ran it out of the computer here in the shop, through a box that reverts the signal to guitar level and impedance and ran it into the amp.

Sounds great. Terrific amp and Marks playing is always top notch. George is that amp built to stock 68 specs or are some specs tailored for the EV sound?

gentleman, read throuh this again.
i did play amplitube. An amp plugin inside nuendo. I think iused a marshall model. After o recorded i removed the amp leaving a direct guitar signal as if i just played it all clean. This what isent GEorge.

That's my standard 12 series specs. Early '68 values. before they went to .0022uf on V1b.
