Just getting these made, but I'll post more over tonight and tomorrow.

First clip is me playing along with Panama.

Usual setup, my LP. No EQ or FX.

Here's a short Unchained riff.

Forgot to mention the settings:

everything dimed, presence rolled back a hair. Straight into the treble channel. No channel jumping.

Mullard RI EL34's and Tung Sol RI 12ax7's.

I was coming to post that the switch was in the 400V position.

I'll make a clip that shows both settings next.

Could you describe the difference between the two settings in loudness, tone and feel ?

Sounds like a fun amp to play. Seems to like to be spanked....

My amp isnt up and running yet but I have used variacs on mps before and the efefct is similar. You dont really get any volume reduction to speak of. Its more headroom then anything. The headroom is lower. The tone gets a bit.. Id say more saturated and compressed. Bit darker too. Makes it seem gainier. Actually I think the correct thing is less gain but more distortion from the preamp and a softer feel from the output.

Here's a quick clip of both settings. First 400V then 500. I didn't change the volume or tone so you can hear what the voltage drop is doing.
