Anyone know what George Lynch used on....
Burning Like a Flame? A stock plexi or juiced up plexi modded?

As I remember, George used mainly a '74 Metal faced 100 watt super lead (a purple, bone stock model) he had borrowed/rented from Aspen Pittman. To me that whole album has that dimed super lead sound to it. George probably had a tube screamer, or possibly an old Pro Co Rat pushing it a bit as well. I think he said he used an old vox wha a bit on the leads on that track.
I definatly was a HUGE fan of the playing on this album when it came out. Maxed out 25 watt celestions and melting EL-34's, as well as incredible chops. Lynch is still awesome.

It is supposed to have been stock ... until Lynch blew it up.keano wrote:Yeah I looked it up and your right it was that amp. I wonder if that amp was stock.
Pitman replaced the transformer but the amp never sounded the same. I believe he sold it a few years ago.
Lynch likes old 25watt Fane speakers and Hiwatt cabs.

George is alway's associated with those tones he got on that particular album ('Back for the attack'). He got pretty good live tones back in the 80's, but hasnt really gotten comparable tones since (live that is). George tends to get those piercing high's that are common to plexi's. His mids have been wrong for getting that great 'Back for the attack' sound. George used his main '79 maple tiger (he put a floyd on it in '88, arghh
) for the clinic I saw in May '07. It was very, very bright and piercing. He also used his ESP V guitar (my buddy has the V he played at this clinic, signed of course) which is mahogany. George sounded MUCH better using this V.

If you go to his site you can see all the pedals he used.. there are a lot. Soo many he prob doesn't remember. Seems to have used them with the level up primarily as a boost. tube screamers, DS1, fuzzface, treble booster, wah's, EQ pedals.. thelist can go on. Just boost a plexi i suppose with a bright guitar.
