John Cipollina / quicksilver messenger service guitarist

Post by electricskychurch » Tue Aug 26, 2008 5:13 pm

one of the best 60's through the 80's californian guitarist.
started with quicksilver messenge service about the mid 60's in San Francisco (along with the Grateful dead, jefferson airplane, the charlatans...) and has one of the best left hand vibrato (or right hand, i don't remember if he was left or right handed ).

he played with many bands in the 70's and 80's, formed with many well known san francisco musicians emerged with the mid 60's psychedelic rock scene (like jefferson airplane drummer, greatful dead basssit... if i remember well ).
he had a guitar playing of his own and wa really talented.
i had to open a topic about that guy !

esc, I have mentioned John before on the forum, along with Gary Duncan, the first lineup of Quicksilver was one of my alltime favorites.
The duelling SG's and John's amazing vibrato , I can still hear in my head!

i love their first LP as well as the one with codine and back door man ( happy trail if i remember well , i think that LP is the most well known they released) , but the first LP is for me one of the best psychedelic rock LP of all times (and the LP cover design is great !) !
