Ritchie Blackmore at number 50 and no Deep Purple in the Hall Of Fame, yeah right.

The Hall Of Fame has links to Rolling Stone magazine, go figure.

Rolling Stone magazine is a pile of shit and just a fan rag.

Well the artists (yeah, 'art 'is very subjective for sure) voted themselves !

Just goes to show how people interpret 'Greatest'. Very poorly it seems.

I think most of the top 100 would have been better stated as 'Songwriters'. Seems that INFLUENCE, as much as ability was considered. INFLUENCE is more than just the GUITARIST, its the band/songs.

Based on what I percieve as the citeria considered for this 'Greatest List', I'm amazed that ACE FREHLEY didnt make it aboard. That dude, regardless of his actual playing (like 85 of the people on the list  ), turned more people onto electric guitar as anyone who's lived ! That is 'GREAT' to me.

I always found that to try to determine in art whose is 'better' or 'the best' is a futile exercise. You can define or argue about some elements and criterias but quality in art is practically impossible to define and/or quantify with any precision.

Here's some wisdom from Hendrix: "You should take a person's act for what it is right then, without comparing it to someone else's. Everyone always wants to compare all the time, which is nothing but the fattest drag in this whole scene besides the word 'pop'"

100% agreement with all "youse guys"

And Jimi's insight once again on a different plane. But then again when someone asked him how it felt to be the greatest guitar player he said "I don't know. Go ask Rory Gallagher" :D

Beck should be sharing no1 with Page. :-) Cream era Clapton close second. I don't care for the rest.
