A player ahead of his time, brought techniques to the guitar that no one else did, and now you see guys like VAI, Ben Harper, Jack White to name a few, using the stuff he came up in the late 80's.
Even though I think his tone is too dry (not the oposite of wet = fx) and thin at times, the sound is allwys full when the band is playing and he EXCELS at using effects, plus that tone fits nicelly the kind of sound he does. Like better his LP and Strat tones than his EMG loaded "ARm the homeless" axe.
