I just loved Ritchie's solo lines. He was always playing great minor keyed licks as well as more exotic minor type lines. He had a great attack and aggression. I love hissolos on those first two or three Rainbow albums best, Like "Man On The Silver Mountain", "Snake Charmer" and Gates Of Babylon" in particular, though that Deep Purple "Made In Japan" is awesome. I just love the "Dorian" vibe of his solo flight in "Child In Time". Lords gave him a great 'melodic carpet' to just run all over. Ritchie makes me try to always pull out that special tone that is so special to a strat.

Made in Japan was definitely one of my teenage favorite albums. Now my favorite Deep Purple album is "Live in Europe". It's the Mark III line up and they burn from the first note of "Burn" through "Might Just Take Your Life", "Lay Down Stay Down" and, of course, "Mistreated". Awesome!

Yeah, I got that on cassette. Ritchie got a great tone on that. I also love the R&B feel on the "Stormbringer" album, which I think they were touring for when the "Live In Europe" was being recorded.
