Keith Scott-Bryan Adams Band

Keith is one of the most lyrical lead players, plays for the song and his leads are instantly memorable, Warren of Ratt is a big fan as well I read.

Music Ground sold Bryan his first AC 30's and I just read Brad Paisley in Guitar Player saying he got some off them as well !!!

It's no fluke they were so popular and the guitar playing had a ton to do with it. Talk about hooks, phrasing, and tasty licks. This is what I like about pop/power pop/pop-rock or whatever you call it. Keith is up there with Eliot Easton for crafting the lead to fit the rhythm. Top shelf.
The wonderful thing about this kind of music is that it's uplifting for the most part. Not much of the darkness that pervades today's music. I miss that.

The solo on "Cuts Like A Knife" is in the team photo of great solos which perfectly fit the song. The tone is pretty killer, as well.

'Isolated', I liked his leads, but Bryan Adams.........,man I wasnt a fan of his SONGS, so that took alot away from me likeing Keith's playing. I do agree that he has skill's. That Neil guy, who plays with Pat Benatar (In more way's than one, I might add
) I like him better for that particular style (commercial,hook heavy song), because I liked the songs better. "Hit me with your best shot",now that was a great solo.
I siphone it all down to this, if the song/band has a great 'vibe', that is great, then a great solo is 'special'. Otherwise, it can turn on the artist, in regards to longevity. Like Jimmy Page, just listen to "Ten Years Gone", that solo is SO GOOD ! Or UFO's (Michael Schenker) "Love To Love" or "Try Me". Those are great bands with great musical 'commraderie' that made great songs. Bryan Adams songs were very mechanical, formuladic typical 80's output, that in hindsight sorta diminshes the fact that Keith was a great ,toneful soloist with a knack for highlighting a songs melody.

Gerado took a LOT from Derringer. He was in Derringers band for the Guitars and Womenr LP (and others) and you can hear a lot of what he did with Benatar played by Derringer there.
Don't get me wrong. I like it. If you're gonna steal, steal from one of the pioneer's and best!

+1!!! This is one of my alltime favorite solos...great tone, great phrasing...he really wails at the end of the song too. Phrasing wise, DeMartini has always reminded me of him.
