I think he's an awesome guitar player as well. Very, very good songwriter. Im not familiar with him as a person... why do you consider him a creep? I've never heard anything bad about him, but I havent followed his career or anything. I just like his songs when I hear them.
He was live on the radio here a few years ago, and played a version of CSNY's "Woodstock" that was unreal. He played it slower, with a soulful feel that was very moving. Easily the best version of that song I've ever heard. To my knowledge, its not on any discs he's ever released. 8) 8)

Yeah, I don't think he's a creep, but then if you here the spun stories of an ex it can get out of the real realm real quick.

Carly spent alot of angry years proving her side, but then it hurts SO
much more when the guy does really well.

Fire And Rain is some song, one of many

Funny, but that's the feeling I get too. Obviously since I've never met him I can't say for sure, but something about him gives me the "willies", so to speak. That said, he's a great songwriter.

Two Lane Blacktop ... man, I haven't seen that in a looooooooooong time. :D I think I saw it at the drive in when it first came out.

Never got that impression from him, but of course I know next to nothing about his personal life.
Just knew he was married to Carly! lol
I really like his voice, it's just so pure and smooth. Fire and Rain is a very moving song, seems I recall it was about a girl he knew in a mental hospital that had killed herself, not sure why he was in there. Bad acid trip?
Very talented guy.

I've seen him every year for the past 10 or so. Awesome showman.
Plays for about 3 hours.
He's played with some top rate drummers
Carlos Vega (RIP)
Vinnie Colaiuta
and the latest I saw him play with, all time great....Steve Gadd

I love his accoustics by James Olson
I called the Olson shop one time and Jim himself picked up.
He sent me a pricing sheet on his guitars.
Basic guitar starts around 5 g"s
And if you want strings, it can go up pretty quickly to over 10 g's
This is also what Phil Keaggy uses as well as Sting and Paul McCartney

perfect example of the wisdom of James Taylor's art playing the way
he feels vs. intellectallizing his feeling to the audience and himself and media.
\
I really respect him when He and Carly split and she took jr. It must have
burned in him all the sh$# the was spread from her end and when
an effort to defend is a lose when jr is in her possesion, James, took the high road, keep quiet and played. JT's time came around to him in time.

Art is for what words can't cover
