The acid-rock band funded by Owsley in SF, a friend of mine in London from high school, who had a white '69 maple board Strat by the way, his cousin was Dickie Peterson the bassist in this illustrious band, who played concerts on the pier in SF, with like 20 Marshall stacks I heard.
Not the greatest players, but if everyone is tripping, I guess it is an experience.
Looking at the drummer in this video, Ginger Baker can hardly complain about Jack Bruce being too loud, he is right in front of the stacks,

yep i've heard many a tale about blue cheer,they corrupted many a young un with their walls of marshalls including my late cousin ginny up in the bay area.

i do believe our own tube tramp told some true tales about the infamous late 60s blue cheer pier shows with the walls of marshall majors,they done runied that boy proper

This clip clearly show some of their Marshall stacks, I heard they played at the end of SF pier with 20 to 30 Marshall stacks, I wouldn't have to be trippin' for that one, must of sounded awesome!!!

they made a few good songs, especialy in the early or mid 70's but in the beginning, i don't think they really were good players nor composers (from all the cd's i have at least and i think i have nearly all the legal cd's available) .
i suppose their glory at the beginning is coming more from the marshall walls and extensive use of L*S*D on top of the fact they were among the very first rock bands like that ( heavy rock pioneers maybe even before led zep ) !

I love Blue Cheer. "Out of focus" is on their fist album .. Heavy stuff..Who cares if they didn't play so great, with what they were doing, that wasn't so important.. Stoner Acid Rock, Louder than God
