Journey
Kind of a guilty pleasure tone but I always thought the solo tone in Whose Cryin Now was very good. Really is a cryin tone. When the Lights Go Down is a really good solo tone too.

old Schon did some serious "reamping" or something didn't he? I remember talk of blowing up some marshalls back then. not sure. i saw them on the "infinity" tour in 77? & who was backing them up but Ronnie Montrose & a new Van Halen, not bad...

Neal's early tone and playing is great. Listen to the first live Journey album for an example. You could probably get it for a buck on eBay.
At it awhile, still learnin'
