Mark has been mentioned here before. Saw RRC and Mark quite a few times back in the late 70's/early 80's, and every time I walked out thinking I need to take up a new hobby.

Stumbled on these audio clips. Listen to the Heartbreaker solo in particular. Insane playing and tone.

You can HEAR his Hiwatt. So much for the Jimmy Page Hiwatt adventure. This DR-103 is as close as I've ever heard to Page's live Hiwatt tones.. 1980....pre internet bullshit and myth-

Guys hanging their hats on mediocre Zep clips claiming who knows what, when it was all done before and light years better.

I'm glad I lived on LI during this time and saw and heard this stuff with my own eyes and ears.

Oh MAN, Mark used to RIP UP the Heartbreaker solo. You're right Carly, I'd get home about 3:30am on Wed night / Thurs morning and the first thing I would do is grab my guitar and try to figger out just what the fuck Mark was doing...time for a new hobby is right! Ed Van f'n who???? :D

I always loved the way Mark did both guitar parts at the end of the What is and What Should Never Be solo.

Great find, these clips!!!

Carly, is there anyway to get recordings of Rat Race's stuff other than this? I know Mark but don't have any contact info. I usually run into him at NAMM. I have the CD they did with Entwhistle but I MUST have some club recordings!!! I do have the single "Struck by Lightning" and "Bittersweet Love" but that dosen't do RRC justice.

Steve Stevens was inspired by watching Mark play on Long Island as a boy. He couldn't believe he got all those sounds out of a 335 and a Hiwatt!
Yeah the old stuff was the best, in this simulated POd-Pro-Tools world.

These are the first club recordings of them doing Zep covers I've heard.
Cool that somebody thought to put them up at YouTube.

I got the Torque cd from a few years ago Mark and Steve longo did.
I think I got a live set broadcast from K-Rock wth RRC backing Entwhistle.

I'm glad I heard that Heartbreaker from '80. I had been researching Hiwatt tones and hit on that last night!!

Look for FREE download.
It came in as RAR files I then had to convert to WAV. Wasn't that easy!!
