Them Crooked vultures

Post by bdc » Sun Jan 10, 2010 2:11 am

This supergroup features Josh Homme, John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl and in the touring band Alain Johannes.....Download the torrent live at Koln Germany from http://www.dimeadozen.org/account-login ... d%3D197676" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .......Watch them play "Warsaw The first breath you take after you give up" This is a mind blowing performance by these excellent musicians.....There is a brief bit of interview footage at the end where John Paul Jones expresses his satifaction with the project......The whole video is awesome, and these guys really stretch themselves......Jones is a hell of a musician as well as the rest of the band.......I started a thread about Johannes here that died immediately.......trust me he's a player......

Here I found it on You tube...in two parts....1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVqrTRo6pU0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnRuniDD ... re=related" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUEdK0ZsMAE&NR=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This thing is an all out jam with lots of light and shade and even a little jazz! Don't miss part 2......This for me is alt rock heaven.......

Great band. I've been fortunate enough to see them a couple of times in London already.

Alain, despite being the additional 'touring' guitarist, may well be the best musician of the 4 of them. And that's no mean feat in that company. Funny enough, I was listening to 'Eleven' this afternoon.

And, much as I like Dave as a front man, he really belongs behind a drum kit. I'd almost forgotten just how good a drummer he is. Which reminds me, I'd heartily recommend checking out the new Nirvana Live At Reading DVD if you don't have it already.

Resurrecting something I almost started today... just a MASSIVE nucleus of eclectic and mainstream talent, this lot. Just dangerous.

Alain is an unsung god of modern music. Grohl is the quintessential rock drummer. Josh Homme is just a drunk baddass poet and killer riffman. And John Paul Something-Or-Other, fancies himself a bass player and arranger.

Individually, their track records are eons long. Together, there is no band today that can touch 'em, imho, really.

And they use cool gear.

Love this band! Only wish I was able to see them live.

They really make most other current bands look silly by comparison. Maybe it will start a trend back to great musicianship being popular.

Their tour stage is smart, economical and effective. Fortunately, there's lots of good full concerts of 'em, but the one that KILLS for me is the Reading 2009 Pro-Shot. Excellent sound quality, video, and really shows the kind of power they have in a live situation.

Those Motor Ave BelAire's are the bomb!

As are the fantastic Maton's from Down Under. God, I'd settle for a baseline model of one of those! The MS503. Check out the pup specs! Jesse Hughes & Josh (Eagles of Death Metal) are big Maton hoes :thumbsup:

off track: an early days EODM vid that's just delicious:
