The first use of pinch harmonics I ever heard were from Rory, way before the Rev Billy G and ZZ Top, and without the use of a peso as well.. :)

Phil Lynott and Rory:

Rory was such a kind and intelligent man and in my opinion one of the finest musicians of our era, just magic on electric and acoustic, harp, sax..
Miss him a lot, long may you reign Rory... :)

NOBODY played with more heart, soul, convinction, honesty and intergrity purely for the joy of playing than Rory. And NO ONE gave more to his fans than Rory.

RIP RG.

Every time out. I saw him live three times in the early 80's, numerous times on Don Kirschners and Midnight Special and have several DVD's. He gave it all every performance. Eddie would have a coronary trying to keep up with Rory (even with a bag full of blow...)

I listened to an interview with Brian May where he described how as a teenager he went with a friend to see Rory and after the show they went up and asked Rory about his tone. Rory apparently took them on stage and went through his complete rig. How many stars would do that, I think it sums up the kind of guy he was.

I love Rory's playing and think he is still an inspirational guitar player. The Irish Tour version of 'A Million Miles Away' is just a superb showpiece it has it all.

Great comments by all, Rory went too soon, this version of "Off The Handle" is a textbook of fluid blues playing, just incredible!! 8) 8)

Rangemaster or not, just the Strat and a simple Marshall combo, such a killer Strat sound..
