Here's my buddy JD showing off his vintage beauties. Great guy and fantastic, old school player! I loaded him my own personal block end 45/100 replica while I'm building one for him. Also sent him my Marshall Supafuzz, as seen in the article.

Very interesting!
Presume with those EQ settings and the tone he shoots for that the purple SL is shared cathode with 0.1uF PI couplers?

I assume that to be the case, I'll ask next time I talk to him.

I also noted that he seems to have a Harlequin set of NOS EL34s in it too. Never played a Dagnall equipped 10/12 series Lead with shared cathode, can't be many around? I have those tones pretty well covered with my JTM45/100 Superlead although that is -119 an6-80 trannies.VelvetGeorge wrote:I assume that to be the case, I'll ask next time I talk to him.

Re: JD Simo rig rundown
Does anyone know JD's songs well enough to know what songs are playing in the background?
I assume it's his music.

JD is a bad dude. Young guy that really nails Allman and Cream era Clapton perfectly. He obviously has a lot of knowledge of all sorts of classic rock. And not in a bullshit way either. He's right up there with Craig Ross or Audley Freed in my book. Really cool cat.

JD was nice enough to answer my question about which song was playing in the background.
Off at 11.

Killer rhythm section too.
I appreciated his tip about using a Variac to ensure your amp is getting the right voltage it was intended to run at.
I think I've run into those issues before at certain clubs.
