Step 7 - Installing Panels

Post by Billy Batz » Mon Apr 28, 2008 1:07 pm

Strait-forward enough. Peel and stick. Line up the holes. The holes in the white rear panel in the 45/100 kit are a lot smaller then then holes in the chassis needed for the impedance and voltage selector switches. I used a dremel conical grinder to cut them back. I put it on max RPMs and it cuts em back like butter. Just dont push hard on the panel material or youll get a shredded up edge as opposed to a nice smooth flat edge if you let the dremel do the work.

Also this thread may be as good a place as any to talk about installing IEC power plugs instead of an attached power cord. Obviously a greenlee punch with the IEC socket cutout shape would be ideal. But theres multiple ways to get it done.

Also what glue to use to reattach a panel if you ever have to take one off?

Contact cement. Nothing too volatile, though the panels are now made to withstand strong glues.

I like Super77 from 3M.
