I have to say this is some of the best work I have ever seen. The lead dress is nothing short of art work. If it sounds 1/4 of what it looks it will be a demon. Congrats on one hell of a build.

Thanks so much for the complements! I've been breaking it in over the last couple of months and I have to say, it's one of the best amps I've played, really enjoying this circuit. It goes really well with my early '68 bottom cab with 25-watt pre-Rolas. It has a thickness and a chewyness in the notes that just bloom out with a sweet top end that can't be beat. I never want to stop playing it once I've started! The shared cathode with lower filtering is great, I'm convinced that this combo is my fave, the early amps. JTM45, 45/100, JTM50 and JTM100 all benefit from shared cathode and lower filtering. Hopefully I'll put up some clips of this beast before too long!
Check out Strat78s 45/100 build and Neikeels builds as well. They are both supreme Jedi lords of plexi building and they both restore originals too.
I'll be starting on a JTM50 Black Flag with Iskras, Mustards, RS caps and M****n iron in the next few weeks, can't wait to get building that one!

Swanson makes the best cabs, period.
BTW, such a nice amp deserves more correct looking knobs.

Would that be the Scott knobs? I guess I've never looked close enough at them to know. The pic on the Valvestorm website is kinda blurry, but pretty sure I see a difference. I will consider this..

Yes, the Scott knobs. They look much closer to the real thing, it's very obvious once you get them in place. After all, you have a MG logo on there, don't you?

I don't know why I've never previously bothered with reading this thread - until now. Your work is very inspiring...

Thanks guys, been gigging with this beast and still loving it. I run it about halfway up at 5 through a '71 A cab with RIC cone 25-watters, nice compromise between clarity and compressed gain. I run it with a Matchless DC-30 set clean on the verge of breakup, in stereo. Glorious jet-engine sound!
