Gary Moore Plays Jimi with Plexis

His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

Thank you !! i'm discovering the work of Gary quite late in my life, really great Hendrix performances by Gary ! Can't believe he passed away that young, especially when i look at this video.

Hello Xplorer,
I am shure there are many of us feeling this way.
Wehn I saw Gary first time, it was early 90ties with the Afterhours Blues tour I was blown away and from that time on I moved more in a rocking blues style playing ( he took me awyay from the shred) and I started singing.
Sadly I could not see him on his last tour.

Did I see a small green Maxon reissue next to his wah while he was wah-ing? I used to have one of those & it looked like that, and Gary Moore was a Tube Screamer user from way back, so that's what I was guessing. Just a guess though... What an excellent show. Can't wait to get it on Blu-Ray & watch on a big LED flat screen, cranked up LOUD...!  :listen:

Hello Folks,
checked the dvd today and I think Gary used the following listed pedals:
Maxon Overdrive
Vox or Cry Baby Wah Wah
Ibanez vintage chorus
Electro Harmonics Fuzz
Boss RT-20
and maybe a Nova Delay.
What do yout think?

Also playing in standard tuning, Gary never tunes down to Eflat. Gotta love those 1959HW's

Yes.
But he sounds verry fat, even with the Strat in standard tuning.
Do you think he uses the 1959 both the same time, is he switching between the Amps or in one for backup?
cheers

Yes he uses both, no spare like the old days or it may just be plugged in, but we will never know as his guitar tech/manager Graham Lilley has gone into exile. Could be a spare plugged in and mic'd, I just can't say.. :jimi: :jimi: :jimi:

I think it's just many, many years of practice with that Strat and cranked Marshall's.
I know Gary was quite ahead of his time in the early eighties when he had 3 volume pedals on stage, as he quickly tired of gesticulating to the soundguy about his levels so he devised a system where he could raise or lower his guitar, amp and effects levels himself on stage. This was pre midi, loopers ect.

Actually I learned as much from Gary Moore's various era stage setups as I have from Steve Stevens, in fact quite a bit moore so to speak!
Gary was always on top of the latest effects and was the first British guitarist to import a PRS to England, though it was rare for him to use them live, mostly in videos.
I just think on the Jimi tribute he is far away enough from the amps, the power conditioners used these days and just knowing which way to turn avoids the dreaded hum.. :)
