What amp is taht Alex? I rmemeber you talking about it in a thread but it looks cool.

That one is an Express clone but I took those tubes out of there and put EL34s back in. I have had that same pair of tubes in a Maven Peal Ganesha and now in a SLO clone and they act consistent to what I mentioned earlier, magic tubes.

In the Tab book for the first album, on one of the pages there is a delivery note from Marshall I believe when Hendrix ordered his first marshall's, and on that sheet was an order for 2 100w amps, 8 extra KT66 tubes, and what looks like 1 G 12H.

Yup makes sense since KT66 were the stock valves used in Hendrix's first Marshall amps and the amp Marshall chose to release as the Hendrix collectible.

billy batz should be able to pm you if he gets the time to do so, ive lost the file already - but that just goes to show you - theyre interesting at first but then its like ok, its the same track. The main difference is that you dont hear the bass or drums as much , theyre sortve in the background, and jimi's tone sounds more like it was just a microphone in the back catching all the room sounds as well so its a tad more dull? maybe not the best word. But the point was is that THAT tone was still there prior to tweaking. It was his amp that night IMO.

I just think it was a lucky mix of mic/angle and room. They just got the mojo spot when they mic'd the amps that night.
