You need to go back and really listen to the track and you will see the error of your ears because it is not just the amp and Jimi used the fuzz through out the entire show ( except for the ballad and a few other spots)as his pre-amp for that tone and adjusted the volume up and down from clean to dirty. The amp was a standard 45/100 of that time period that was very broken in but did not have the raging distortion tone you are hearing without the fuzz on.Xplorer wrote:NOO !

Sorry Guy, i actualy heard the amp , some weeks ago, recorded by the actual owner of this jimi owned amp. NO FUZZ ABOUT THE CRACKING IN THE SOUND, AND THE AMP IS FUZZY BY ITSELF. I don't say that jimi didn't also added a fuzz to it. But without a fuzz, this special jtm45/100, not totaly standard, allready sounds deep spot monterey wild thing.

Sorry but you did say.....No fuzz on monterey's wilde thing, about the way the amp produces cracks. just the amp ... the amp doing cracks into the distortion. this is not a fuzz. the amp is fuzzy by itself. special amp ...Xplorer wrote:Sorry Guy, i actualy heard the amp , some weeks ago, recorded by the actual owner of this jimi owned amp. Thats the only reason I responded in the first place because you said there was "no" fuzz on WT. I'm sure the amp is very fine and fuzzy sounding when dimed since I've played through many of this same year model (George's original 66' 45/100 is a prime example of a very aggressive one!)in my "Vintage Marshall vs. Boutique clones" seminar I do every year at the Nashville amp show but even George's cannot do the over the top distorto/fuzz sound without a FF in front of it either so it's really a moot point. The fuzz was on and he just turned down for the rhythm stuff which is pretty much what the amp sounds like maxed without the fuzz on anyway.

Re: Temolo-ish Sound in "Wild Thing" Monterey Pop
Yes, and so i say again : the cracking of the amp is not because a fuzz : it can sounds like that without a fuzz. then , if you add a fuzz to this fuzzy cracking amp, it's even more huge, that' all. No hesitation.
due to a bad cord or probably an arching in the amp, most likely a tube going south or tranny arching internally''
sorry but no, this amp sounds like that naturaly. It was quite a discover when i heard it.
wait, be carefull, big big discover here :
560v tap on the power transformer.

Exactly my point, it's still crackling which means there is something wrong internally probably due to the VERY HIGH B+!Xplorer wrote:Yes, and so i say again : the cracking of the amp is not because a fuzz : it can sounds like that without a fuzz. then , if you add a fuzz to this fuzzy cracking amp, it's even more huge, that' all. it starts to be annoying.
i said : "No fuzz on monterey's wilde thing, about the way the amp produces cracks" it still means that the cracks aren't due to the fuzz, but to the amp by itself.
i'm clear but you don't understand.

Yeah it's annoyingly funny how you keep avoiding the fact you said....."the amp is fuzzy by itself. special amp ..."!Xplorer wrote:it starts to be annoying.

Re: Temolo-ish Sound in "Wild Thing" Monterey Pop
Fuzz was on for "The Wind Cries Mary" as well...he had the volume knob on the guitar turned down-he just never turned the volume full up as he did in the rest of the songs. You can hear that the turned down tone on "Hey Joe" or "Like A Rolling Stone" is exactly the same as "The Wind Cries Mary".swankmotee wrote:You need to go back and really listen to the track and you will see the error of your ears because it is not just the amp and Jimi used the fuzz through out the entire show ( except for the ballad and a few other spots)as his pre-amp for that tone and adjusted the volume up and down from clean to dirty. This is hilarious because we are talking about the most elementary and easy to achieve Hendrix tone. You don't even need a dimed Marshall to achieve the basic tones-listen to my clip that I did on a Super Reverb at coffee-house volume with a Tube Screamer added...
And for fuck's sake...the cracking was caused by the piss-poor coily cords. If you have ever used an original old style coil cable, you have heard that identical sound a hundred times. So where are the sound clips from this mystery, magic Marshall?

Re: Temolo-ish Sound in "Wild Thing" Monterey Pop
again, no.
it's funny how you can't simply read and understand my subject. i don't say there wasn't any fuzz. I'm saying that the crack in the amp isn't caused by a fuzz, it's the amp itself. did you get it now ?
and no,
this amp,
today,
still sounds the same,
with a normal modern unbroken cable.
And tubes are fine, transformers are fine, speakers are fine, nothing broken.
I HEARD THIS AMP.
don't you understand what cool info i'm bringing here ? and i don't understand why you guys start to smile and say that i don't even know how a fuzz sounds like, with no respect. you obviously start to be annoying instead of saying thank you. that's not very smart, IMHO.

AMEN my brutha! You are absolutely right on all counts and obviously know what you're talking about do to having experience with real amplifier's!LOL! I love how some people just know it all and have to argue their misinformed points into the ground!garbeaj wrote:Fuzz was on for "The Wind Cries Mary" as well...he had the volume knob on the guitar turned down-he just never turned the volume full up as he did in the rest of the songs. yeah, right, your clip sounds like 10 % close to the real tone i'm talking about, coming out of the real jimi amplifier, without a fuzz.
you guys might feel a bit stupid if someday you hear the clips i've heard.

Re: Temolo-ish Sound in "Wild Thing" Monterey Pop
coming from the guy : "That was all part of the freak setup in his amp. No other amp in the world sounds like that one and it can't be duplicated."
SO , i still say that this cracks aren't caused by a fuzz, even if there might have some fuzz between the amp and the guitar.
the guy told me that it sounded fuzzy, even without the fuzz .
hope it's clear now.
