JANIE HENDRIX HAS GONE TOO FAR NOW!
FUCK YOU JANIE HENDRIX. THATS RIGHT I SAID IT!
"Experience Hendrix" has chosen GIBSON as the official electric guitar for hendrix. Are they coming out with a signature flying V or even an SG? Nope! Theyre actually building stratocaster knock offs! Reverse Headstock and all. OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to http://www.jimi-hendrix.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and see for yourself. Fucking incredible. What a damn shame. Hendrix was one of the artists who made the strat what it is and of course he cant currently have any kind of signature model probably because fender wont give that company the time of day because theyre greedy. So lets go to gibson. Shame on janie and shame on gibson.

Re: JANIE HENDRIX HAS GONE TOO FAR NOW!
Wait, she hasn't gone too far before now? That's news to me
It's fairly obvious that they attempted to bring this to fender, but for some reason it didn't take. My guess would be that Janie wanted these new guitars to have the "Experience" logo on the headstock, notice the logo is on the pickguard too. Maybe Fender didn't like that, maybe they don't like Janie (good call on their part), but regardless, Fender didn't want any part of it.
You can tell because
1. There's no mention of recreating any of the Gibson guitars Jimi used. This would be a perfect time to reissue that white 3-pickup SG, which Jimi had for quite a while
2. "Authentic Hendrix specifically chose Gibson Guitars, the world renowned leader in innovation and quality..."
Coming from the horse's mouth, that just reads as "Fender said no so we went with Gibson"
3. The whole press release has a sloppy feel to it. What's the difference between the first two packages? Does the second one just have a backwards guitar? They don't specify. Why does the practice amp in the first two packages have the same name as the pickups in the third package? There are weird marketing phrases left and right that don't seem to adhere to reality, or at least history as it's been documented. "...This package inherits the best features from Jimi's original setup..." Wait, I thought it only had a small practice amp. I didn't read anything about a 100watt marshall, univibe, wah or an octavia. There is a fuzz pedal in the first package though. Then there's "Creating this new guitar is simply a continuation of Jimi's practice of giving back to those who loved him so much." I think Jimi wouldn't develop a whole guitar to do this. He would probably just try to get the existing instruments into the hands of needy kids, instead of trying to sell them something with his face on it.
To me this comes off as a last ditch attempt to get Jimi's face on a 'signature' guitar. Or more accurately, the Experience Hendrix Logo. I doubt anyone at Fender wanted to be a part of this, and I seriously hope that this endeavor crashes and burns like it should.

Re: JANIE HENDRIX HAS GONE TOO FAR NOW!
I was watching the Gibson site for more information. I thought it was going to be a flying V or an SG. Wow, Gibson should be embarrassed to be involved with this. Hard to defend that one.

Re: JANIE HENDRIX HAS GONE TOO FAR NOW!
Just another mistake by gibson. They price their guitars so high no regular player can afford one. I have wanted a LP for years but refuse to pay over 2K for a regular one and $4K+ for a early reissue it is a total joke the prices they charge. If they close up its their own fault.

I agree with everything you said, I have nothing to add.spaceace76 wrote:Wait, she hasn't gone too far before now? That's news to me

Janie and Gibson suits (bean counters), cluuelesss!!! At this point in time I cannot even look at my LP without feeling embarrased. Fender and PRS are probably having a good laugh!

If it wernt for Janie we would not have the complete woodstock, the berkly or the redone montery with purple haze and the BOG dvd's which I like very much. She is going to try and get the Royal Albert Hall. Shure she has done some things we don't like but every has. She has brought some great music dvd's to the public which i totaly like.

Re: JANIE HENDRIX HAS GONE TOO FAR NOW!
i think Leon would have done the same things. And in the case of Janie, the bad definitely outweighs the good. If she were elected to this position she would have been fired years ago

Re: JANIE HENDRIX HAS GONE TOO FAR NOW!
hendrix is the complete opposite to this guitar in a box money maker.
greed and trash circle each other.
it's not right to disgrace another's name without their own action.
shame on them.

Re: JANIE HENDRIX HAS GONE TOO FAR NOW!
Fender and Gibson .....mmmmm......., my mind immediatly registers Strat (Fender) and Les Paul (Gibson) seems VERY wierd that this is happening.
EVH put a Gibson logo on his B&W era Franky, which ,just that seemed odd. Though in his mind it sorta SOUNDED like a Gibson, but had the Fender look, which was his goal.
Fender is still getting paid for this Gibson venture though (copyright fee) .
