Hendrix's Living Legacy 2010

His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

Hendrix's Living Legacy 2010

Post by basile865 » Sun Jun 27, 2010 12:50 am

Here we have all these big names - Eric Johnson, Satriani, KWS, etc. etc., playing the hendrix tour, and yet Leon Hendrix is playing these small clubs to small crowds for no money out on the west coast. We all miss Jimi, are saddened by the fact that we cant go to his concerts etc, and yet Leon is out there right NOW playing and doing his thing with the world paying him no attention. Yes he's no Jimi, but it is his blood, his younger brother walking the earth right now.

Another thing is Billy Cox. What I'd give just to hang with him or meet Leon. Its just a strange sad feeling that these two men are alive today right this instant and to not have access to them just for a conversation.

Apparently within the last month Billy Cox mentioned he'd be writing a book to truly set the record straight about Jimi. According to him only 25 percent of what you read about Jimi is true. I read in that same article that he runs or ran a pawnshop in Nashville. I have half a mind to just get in the car and go search for him
Theres almost a bit of urgency to talk to these guys. They're the last two on earth who had a real connection with Jimi, and itd be fascinating to talk with them.

yes, i'd love to talk to Billy.
Basile, take your car, go ! and please tell us.
i'll post some pictures of my trip to Seattle soon. i was lucky to see Randy hansen live. it was .... wow ! ; ) you could hear a lot of what it would have been to hear jimi, live. but i have to work on all my pictures as the site doesn't allow a size more than like 800 px large or something, too bad. but i understand why.

I agree, go find Billy. Leon was too young to remember Jimi, and they were only half brothers, right ?( I cant remember) Billy Cox is who I'd like to talk to, though, like said, Leon does have some of the same blood as Hendrix surging through those veins. Hendrix is alive through the spirit he emparted in every note he ever played, which is still very 'alive' in its own right.

Its tough right now money wise so I cant hop in and go unfortunately. My drummer has some family out in Nashville though, and theres been talk of wanting to go play out there. We'll see what happens down the road from here, but I'll keep everybody posted if and when we go.

I was playing in a blues bar a couple years ago and Buddy Miles was sitting right in front of me watching us play and I played a couple of riffs from "them Changes" he looked up and smilled. We got him to come up and sit in with us and play it. I went out to my car durring the break and got my BOG CD and brought it back and he autographed it. Pine Top Perkins was there also and sat in. :D

Cool ! I never forget when I meet a strong influence (no, not alkeehaul :D ) When I meet a 'influence', it is forever highlighted (yes like that awefull yellow marker) in my mind and memory.

Actors, athelete's and presidents can kiss my ass, it's only very few people that humble me in anyway at all, and that's MUSICIAN'S.

Man thats so cool!

My run ins with famous people are few and far between.

I met Richie Havens when I was really little. I told him I wanted to be a rock star one day and asked what it was like to play at woodstock. He was very nice, shook my hand and said maybe I'll see you on stage one day.

Then I've taken two lessons with Oteil Burbridge , an absolute beast on the instrument. Very nice guy as well.

None of the hendrix family of musicians though. Thats why it would be un-real to meet billy cox. Almost painful or something haha.
