Your Hendrix Pedals?
What pedals do you have for the hendrix thing?
Mine:
Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz
Roger Mayer Octavia (in the mail.. expecting it today or tomo)
Teese Picture Wah
FoxRox Aquavibe
Less Important (but vital as I am using a 70s' Traynor Bassmate Amp):
LovePedal Cot 50 Burst <-- supposed to replicate a late 60s plexi with 6550s.. haha pretty big claim by LovePedal.
Xotic EP Booster <--- EchoPlex pre-amp.. really enhances the presence and ads some sparkle/boost

Re: Your Hendrix Pedals?
Original Shin-Ei Univibe:

And I have had various Fuzzfaces, Dunlop reissues from the 80s and my pride and joy...a first run Prescription Electronics "Experience" pedal, which is the best all in one Hendrix pedal I have ever used or heard...(I don't have any pics of that- I sold it when I was broke!:(
Also, this old wah I've had for years...got it with the Uni-Vibe. I'm not sure what year it was made?!

If the enclosure is the original one (not rehoused) then it's 70ies (Vox sticker on the front instead of the cast in vox logo)...garbeaj wrote: Also, this old wah I've had for years...got it with the Uni-Vibe. I'm not sure what year it was made?!

Re: Your Hendrix Pedals?
Thanks! That's what I figured, but I wasn't sure. It is all original...I've just cleaned the pot once or twice. It sounds exactly like "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" from BBC Sessions/Radio One and it works spectacularly well for Hendrix and Vaughan numbers...not so hot on Trower, but I reckon he used a Tychobrahe or some other wah for the Bridge of Sighs album...the Voxes I've tried just don't seem to work right for his stuff in my experience.Freedom wrote:If the enclosure is the original one (not rehoused) then it's 70ies (Vox sticker on the front instead of the cast in vox logo)...garbeaj wrote: Also, this old wah I've had for years...got it with the Uni-Vibe. Re: Your Hendrix Pedals?
If the pot is original there is a chance you can find out what era is your wah (ok +- a year or two) from the codes written on the pot.garbeaj wrote: Thanks! That's what I figured, but I wasn't sure. It is all original...I've just cleaned the pot once or twice.
For instance, one of my vintage wahs came with a Centralabs pot (that was a replacement, the wah was '69 era and that was obvious since the board had procond and arco caps, trashcan inductor etc and the case had the cast-in vox logo). According to the codes that specific pot was manufactured on 1974 if i remember correctly...

Re: Your Hendrix Pedals?
I don't see a date or any numbers on the pot...it just says "CENTRALAB" on it. I'm not really handy so I can't pull anything apart in the wah, but I suppose there could be some pot codes on it somewhere that I can't see...Freedom wrote:If the pot is original there is a chance you can find out what era is your wah (ok +- a year or two) from the codes written on the pot.garbeaj wrote: Thanks! Here's mine:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I was wrong, mine is '76...
The 134 is the Centralabs code. The next two numbers show the year (74) and the last two the week (23).
PS: Apologies to theactor19 for hijacking the thread

Thanks! If I ever bring this wah to my tech I can have him pull out the pot and then I can at least see the numbers.Freedom wrote:Here's mine:

Re: Your Hendrix Pedals?
AnalogMan NKT275 Sunface (for early fuzz sounds)
Foxrox Octron for Octavio sounds (not perfect, still searching...best I had was the Octave section in the Captain Coconut)
Teese RMC Picture Wah (very good, but currently looking into other options)
KR Megavibe small (superb vibe sound, but will be replaced by custom Castledine Supra-Vibe which will have a foot pedal activated heel switch)
Foxrox Paradox TZF (stunning flanger...perfect)
Still trying to find the right Octavio style pedal which will do both BOG sounds, One Rainy Wish and Jeff Beck's Wired era tones. Also want to try out some different fuzzes, like the Axis circuit.

Re: Your Hendrix Pedals?
Well, it may not be much, but I'm using a V847A Wah (most likely to be upgraded
), a dunlop red fuzz face that I modded, a DOD 250 clone, an Octavia clone, and an original Deluxe Electric Mistress.
I built both the DOD 250 and the Octavia from scratch. They're still on the breadboard.
I use the flanger for univibe sounds, but I've already started to make a univibe clone (this one already has a box
).

Re: Your Hendrix Pedals?
Nice guitar...I have seen a few of these '69 reissue guitars out there, but I have never seen how you get them. They aren't on any websites that I have seen, other than the impossible to get Japanese guitars. I would imagine it is Fender Custom Shop, but how do you get them to make you one, since it doesn't appear to be a regular stock item anywhere. I actually love your guitar and I want one just like it! I don't have a rosewood fingerboard strat, and I love my real '68 Olympic White maple neck/maple cap guitar...one like yours would be the perfect mate...So how did you get yours?
