Details!!??

A few funny things though...the tolex area with the stencil has a strange disolouration...kinda like it was patched in from a different cab? And the cab appears to have a wider vent than what an original Black Flag head cab would have had.

Yup, looks a bit fishy, but who knows - if the amp has been on the road a lot, then a rehousing of the chassis in a different head shell wouldn't be impossible - hence maybe the wide vents. But the black tolex looks suspicious - it has to have been rehoused rather recently or retolexed with non-marshall tolex. The guts should be the most interesting thing though.

It would be amazing with more info, and best of all would of course be detailed photos of the insides.

However, the head cab has almost certainly been replaced, which does weaken the Hendrix connection even if the stencil is authentic.

All Black Flag amps had a dual rectifier, so that wouldn't necessarily have been made especially for Hendrix.

... Repaint , not replaced. And the marshall logo removed. After all it's not the first hendrix amp that was damaged. Another one has been completely monkeyed inside, then restored to specs. but not this one i think. Ikeep asking the guy some pictures, offering free nos components etc... No anser yet.

But our point is that the headcab can not be original to the amp. The wide vent head cab that is seen here turned up in late '67 at the earliest. Every single other Black Flag, and even the earliest JMP panel amps had a much thinner vent on top. That means the headcab must have been replaced at some point. Since the head cab, with its stencil, is so far the only thing that vaguely connects it to Hendrix, then it is an important point.

Nevertheless, I'd love to see more details and possibly hear more about the alleged Hendrix connection.

That's an interesting point indeed. If we have some pictures of the blackflag from the hendrix era, that would show the vents it'd be cool

And something maybe not impossible would be that hendrix may have had some kind of prototype, before they finished to sell amps with the thinner vents, from their stock ...

nope, afaik, it's documented in uite a few pics that hendrix's black flag frox the Axis sessions, etc. had the narrow vent - just like any other of the day. It's either a replaced head shell or quite a bit bogus...
Or one could claim it is one of Hendrix's mysterious blackflags that have never been cought on film, etc. and then the story gets very fishy.
