One of the best Hendrix players

Post by Xplorer » Sun Feb 05, 2012 4:01 pm

Hey, thought i'd share it again. Byron Holmes, along with Randy Hansen are my favourite hendrix players :

can you believe he has such hendrix voice ? !!!! i had him over the phone once, and i had such a choc ! i thought i had jimi hendrix speaking to me, same voice, words etc ...
often playing in paris. i saw him playing with aaron neville 15 years ago, amazing. my cousin and i thought it was really hendrix, alive, just escaped from the island where elvis presley, marylyn monroe, michael jackson etc went, pretending they were dead lol.

Yep Always liked Byron. Has that Jimi feel alright.
Larry McDaniel from Stone Free or Stan Skibby hit that vibe too.
Even Michael Landau nails some monstrous BOG tones !

Awesome. His singing on the one song I watched. Hey Joe is a little more mellow than Jimi. Jimi had one thing that not a lot of people have. Confidence. He had it in bucketfuls. He wore what he want and sung like he wanted.

They should have got Byron instead of Slash.

there's something distinctly macho about playing here my train way out of tune and still making it rock, it's so "jimi".

Awesome

once i wanted to play with him, and learn from him, he was ok over the phone, but finaly it didn't happend. But when i talked about gears, he said : "just bring your guitar", just like any amp we would find would be fine. All in the fingers. This guy is really a natural.

i'm still wondering sometimes if it's not jimi hendrix himself, who learned to play righty over the years. he looks so much like him, and his voice is so close to jimi hendrix's voice. His nose is a tad different but we knows it's an easy thing to mod ha ha !
jimi hendrix, fourty years later could be him.

and guys, he plays just a dunlop univibe, perhapos a fuzz i guess, and not a bog plexi , and still, he sounds so hendrix ^^
And he doesn't just copy hendrix, he has great new songs and awsome tone like this one, check out !

Jamin' with Stan Skibby was groovy. We played 2-3 Jimi grooves and it was obvious he had the feel.
Playing on stage with Buddy Miles & Billy Cox, he is true disciple no doubt!
Winner of the "National Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition" in Seattle, Washington, but..
as I absent-mindedly forgot to mention,
it was Al Rowe who also won the "National Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition" in the late 90's.
He is spooky close in almost every way imaginable. Even his skills on the wah evoke Jimi to the core.
I challenge all of you and you will not find a more true player ! :champ:

this is a very good record, thanks for sharing that.

the thing we're all missing i guess, appart from jimi ( even if we were born after ) is what would have been made by jimi ... after ... ???
we do with what we had the chance to get from him.
We maybe all have a trauma about that. and this trauma, which is huge, because of how immense jimi was, influenced the last decennys, and it's not finished ^^ ....
