His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

and did this large headstock feature a maple board, even in 1965 ? i thought that these models came first in 68.
anyway ... what was the subject again ? ^^
please find a 1965 picture of jimi with this large headstock, and a maple board.
No the Maple Veneer board was '68 and '69 only, and most of the pictures in the liner notes of the Studio albums show him playing small headstock guitars with Rosewood boards :jimi:

The link that I posted of Jimi earlier in this thread has Jimi playing an all maple neck 66' Fender Strat guitar (not a 68') the description on the picture where I got the link from even stated this fact (66' not 68'):

BTW, 66' is not a typographical error either. After purchasing Fender in 1965, CBS began to offer both a maple neck with a separate glued-on laminated maple fretboard and the rosewood fretboard over maple neck remaining the other neck option. :fight:

You wanna buy a Citroen? It has one forward gear and three reverse gears. OK then, I have a French tank I'll sell you that also has one forward gear and three reverse gears.

What ? i could be Vichy ? what do you mean ? do you know what you're talking about when you dare say the word "Vichy" ?

about your car, i can't understand you you mean too. all i know is that in Europ we don't like automatic cars : this is just no sport with an automatic car.

i asked you how you could verify that this picture was from 66, and not from at least 68.

Oh oh oh.. Nice, so you edited your post after you needed to provocate me for wathever reasons, making fun with things that can't be said, about war. You joined me to what you think you know about the vichy government ( not a person btw, but a village ), who during war II , submitted France to the germans and did awful things. I can tell that you don't know what you're talking about little man, especially since for example my grandfather worked directly with charles de gaulle and churchill, roosvelt, to liberate europe.
Another one was a prisonner of the germans, eating rats to survive, two other members died with a bullet in their head.
You dare make fun with these things. And you dare come to me because of your parano and say such things to me ?? This isn't a forum made for that you know ? I suppose that you never got out of your country.
With some other people we're watching you, we laugh, and we think that you should go back to school.
Now you're making fun of some french cars.. Why ?? ^^
are you gonna make fun of the africans, chinese, russians, ..... ?

I simply asked where i could see a proof about this 66maple neck with the big headstock, and i don't know why you feel threatened or provocated.

By your demeanor questioning everything that everyone says, and seemingly "knowing it all" I thought that you sounded more like a dictator. Speaking of which, DeGaulle was such a stellar person that even the French Foreign Legion had a contract out on him with "The Jackal". DeGaulle does remind many french citizens of a certain present day leader in America.

You have no excuses. Stop talking of things you think you know. You don't.
Get back to the pickups subject, or wathever, but if you need to be here, respect this forum and its members.
Regarding me, there's no way to my eyes that you may shine anymore by any way with what you've show of you.

ANYWAY....

I got the Slider 69 pickups today and installed them and they are BY FAR the best pickups I have ever owned! :jimi: :jimi: :jimi: They beat the Fralin 69 I had previously in my strat by a landslide IMHO.

They are so dynamic and detailed and I'm kind of addicted to them

Rodney (Slider) said that one of the most important aspects to tone other than the pickups are the strings, and this is something I'm starting to understand.

Didn't someone on here say that Jimi used 10-38 strings?

What are the exact gauges of each string he used?

Great news ! Glad you like them. Mine are reversed.
Yes, try the fender pure nickel strings. 10-38 isn't made anymore. But with a 10-42 you won't be far. D'addario pure nickel also.

... Also, as i mentioned it along with the slider's 69 montgs ago, for your quest, definitely try the shared cathode switch, very small easy mod made in less than an hour, and what a huge difference ......... !
