http://www.myspace.com/slidersvintagepickups" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Get in touch with Rod McQueen through his MySpace account OR on eBay he used to be listed as "Slider's Vintage Classics" If you can find a past sale on eBay for Rod's pickups then you can email him through one of the finalized sales pages.

BTW, Get ready to spend at least ($325 USD/set) unless you luck upon a used set for less.

Lefty Lou,
So just to be clear, you prefer the the Slider's over the CS 69's?

Re: What do YOU think is the best hendrix pickups?
I don't personally own any Slider's pickups, but I have heard them first hand and highly recommended them to Lick Library members (under the name "Jack Daniels") when Slider's Vintage Classics first came on the scene. Rod McQueen's (Slider) strat sets typically run around $325 a set, and just recently a new 59' Slider's strat sold on eBay for $320.00:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sliders-Vintage ... 306wt_1108" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
For a good audio clip of the Slider's 69' set, give this video clip a listen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uob4cHUTQuA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've had a righty Fender CS 69' set in my lefty strat and it had the 69' vibe (scooped mids and all), I can't say that I could necessarily hear the approximate $185 difference between Fender's 69' set and Sliders 69' set, or place my finger upon what it was that I heard or didn't hear. I will say this however, if I had to go with another 69' strat set other than the Fender brand, it would be Sliders first prior to: Florances, Kinmans, Lollars, or Fralins versions. Even though Don Mare doesn't have a 69' strat set, I've been highly impressed with his single coils (using his special "Josie" wrap) and I'd consider having him make a 69' set for around $210/set as my second choice.

Don Mare has new models coming out, late 60's strat grey bottoms that I'm just eager to try out.
I had Slider's '71 NOS set which really had that authentic feel but pricey.
There's just something about Don Mare's wrap that I find so comfy. The Formvar 50's is really sweet and punchy.

I just missed purchasing Don's ZepoTone tapped tele bridge that gives you both recorded (5.7K) and live (6.6K) taps. I built a lefty Jimmy Page tele and used the ZepoTone Live set, no sooner had I received my pickup set and Don posts this alternate version #3 ZepoTone pickup on his website. If I ever purchase another Tele set, it's going to be Don Mare Hayride tele set.

Re: What do YOU think is the best hendrix pickups?
fair game : to answer you too, as my answers are a bit copied almost word for word lol, since mathd's question, i compared the CS69 and the slider's 69. i personaly really prefer the slider's. and i can't be sure that abigaïl is using the exact same materials as she did in the past, to make these Fender CS pickups. Rod basicaly reproduced the old ones. then it's perhaps a matter of taste.

Re: What do YOU think is the best hendrix pickups?
Xplorer, the only 69' pickups that Abigail Yabbara ever wound or "hand guided" were always signed by her, the other "Custom Shop" 69' pickups are wound on a machine and (supervised/overseen) by Abigail and initialed " AY ". Fender uses modern sourced components such as magnets and wire that are dissimilar from what was used back in the day. Rod McQueen "Slider" has (and will use) if requested, vintage wire for use in his pickup winds although at an increased cost. Whether or not vintage magnets and vintage wire really makes that much of a tonal difference is anyone's guess, but I surmise it to be all "glitz and glitter" and a way to boost prices.

So where do you buy sliders?
I checked ebay but there is only one set of 59's.
Does he have an email or website?
