His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

Blues For Jimi - CD, DVD, Blu-ray in September!

Post by yngwie308 » Sun Jul 08, 2012 2:18 am

From the Gary Moore Tribute web site where I have been a member for 6-7 years or so, the info of this upcoming Blu-ray DVD release of Jimi playing with Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox amongst others.

Click here for larger image!I've received great news from the local distributor of Eagle Records and Eagle Vision products. Now it is confirmed that the long-awaited Jimi Hendrix tribute gig will be released on CD, DVD and Blu-Ray in September (more details soon!). It was recorded at Hippodrome in London on 25th October 2007. Gary Moore, Darrin Mooney and Dave Bronze have played a great set of Jimi Hendrix classics, and in the finale Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell also joined Gary to play three of the biggest Jimi Hendrix songs. No need to mention how serious was Gary about this event. He was in fire and played the Hendrix tunes as only a few guitarists able to do. But we all know that Gary was able to play easily any of his heroes' style, doesn't matter it is Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix. What a great concert it was. This material is really something that worth waiting for some more months. They have played the following set of songs...

Gary Moore - Darrin Mooney - Dave Bronze
1. Purple Haze
2. Manic Depression
3. Foxy Lady
4. The Wind Cries Mary
5. I Don't Live Today
6. Angel
7. Fire

Gary Moore - Mitch Mitchell - Billy Cox
8. Red House
9. Stone Free
10. Hey Joe

Gary Moore - Darrin Mooney - Dave Bronze
11. Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)

THis audience shot clip is all that exists presently. I won't start on my post mortem Moore management issues, llet's enjoy Gary as he was!

Also a tribute to Jimi featuring Phil Lynott and Eric Bell, plus the unmistakable drumming of the brilliant Brian Downey, who rarely is given the credit he deserves for being the driving engine room of Thin Lizzy!!

Funnily enough on one of my later visits to London, must have been at least 24 years ago or so I stopped in a pub and there was this trio playing and there was something about the guitarist that seemed vaguely familiar. They were playing Red House and many years later I realized it was in fact Eric Bell, that battered old Strat with the humbucker he was playing!
Small strange funny old world isn't it!!
