Hey guys,

did a little recording of purple haze to show what the Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz sounds like. My setup:

Fender '68 Reissue Strat --> Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz ---> Lovepedal COT50 Burst (Just to simulate a Marshall Plexi with a bit of volume) ----> Fender Tweed Blues Deluxe. Recorded with my Iphone on top of the amp.

Here is the Clip: https://soundcloud.com/musicbyraj/purple-haze" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And you can read my review of the Axis Fuzz here:

I see from the article you like the fuzz and tried different tonal settings.
Curious. Does the amp reverse volume which simply is having the volume all the way up
and starting with the tone knobs all on zero and then blending in the tone as volume increases at the desired level ?

I'm not quite sure I'm understanding what you're asking.

Older Fender's do this and I was wondering if this particular modern amp did this also.
Simply by having the Bass/Mid/Treb off or on zero with the volume all the way up on ten.
Initially there is no sound until you start turning up tone controls.
So, just turning up the bass will do just that to your tone. More bass = more bass and vol.

There is sound if the volume is up even if the tone controls are at zero, though pumping those controls will make the amp louder.

So it's bleeding through ? That's O.K. if the levels can be controlled.
What I was trying to get at is having the amp do more of the work. Leaving out the COT50.
After setting up the amps volume and pedal to unity gain by maxing the pedals volume and adjusting the amount of Fuzz let into the signal just over-the-top.
I realize the recording was through your iPhone... Let's hear another clip !
Is that a MIJ or CIJ ? Stock pickups? Have you tried any Abigail Ybarra's handywork. I have her '69's Most righteous ! :D

its a CIJ, stock pickups. WIll record another clip soon.

I used to have Fender 60s' classic players strat.. i believe it had custom 69 pickups.. so they weren't american custom shop. I thought they sounded too modern.
