2X12 cabinet wiring questions

Post by edwardz » Thu Aug 05, 2004 4:10 pm

I plan on loading a 2X12 closed-back cabinet with 2, Weber 12V or California speakers (probably 12Vs). I was thinking about getting 8 ohm speakers and wiring them in series.

Would this give me a 16 ohm cabinet? How will this effect sound and speakers? Is this the best way to wire this cab, or should I do it some other way? Should I get 16 ohm speakers or a different ohm rating?

Thanks for your help! :)

I asked Ted Weber at Weber VST this question. He says that using two 8 ohm speakers wired in series in this cabinet make them a little more vibey and dynamic. Sounds like this is what I want to do, but ya'll feel free to chime in on the topic.
