In search of 160 uF 100v capacitor for my Powerbrake

Post by Guest » Wed Feb 02, 2005 10:24 am

Greetings volume junkies!

Who knew you can't run a Super Lead at full volume into a powerbrake dialed down to the lowest setting indefinately  !

All evidence points to a fried cap, so as my first venture as equipment repairman I am replacing the burnt out cap!

I could not find one with the proper values at Metroamp and my internet search was fruitless (I must not be using the correct search terms or something). So does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'd like to get the PB up and running as soon as possible.

Also, I would entertain any guidelines you may wish to offer regarding running amp and PB without roasting components!

Thanks

Billy B

One reason I use a MASS and not a PB.

Mouser and Newark will both have any filter cap value you would want unless you need a specific brand. Illinois, Sprauge, Mallory. They should all be fine. Ill do a quick serach for you and link them.

These should be fine. You dont have to match the values exactly. Youll have a much harder time finding 160u then 150. You can use any voltage as long as its 100V or higher tho the physical size of the part gets much larger.

Sprague ATOM # TVA1422 should work fine as well as this BC cap Mouser part # 594-2222-021-19151

Actually that's a non-polar cap in there. I did find something close from Mouser. I'll see if I can find it again.

Here's the one I used before. It's 200uf @ 100V non-polar.
But it's axial leaded instead of radial.
