Hey Richard. I recognize you from the Rivera forum. I see that you took over Scobro's site. Very Cool.

So George how did you like the GT's?

I think they sound really good. They sound just a touch brighter than my old Mullards, at least to my ears.

I just put a Telefunken in V1 of my Rivera M-60 and really like the way it tightens up the sound.

I just put the GT's in V1 and V2 of my JMP 2203. I just got the amp a couple days ago so I am still getting used to it. The GT's sound way better than the Mesa tubes that were in it.

I thought I'd add that after a few months of use the GT-12AX7-Ms are still sounding great. I think reliability is going to gbe good with these tubes.

I hope GT is getting enough sales to keep these in production for a long time.

I'm happy to report that they are still working great for me, too.

As much as I didn't want to believe the hype, I feel these are the best 12ax7 in production today. Not exactly the same as my old Mullards, but very old school sounding. And readily available, which is a plus.

Hmmm sounds pretty damn convincing. You say they have extended lows and highs compared to a JJ12AX7S. Low end bawlz is always great, but are the highs smooth and pleasant to the ear? I really don't like a lot of highs and mostly prefer a fat round tone that has a lot of bite. I'm just really fixated on the awesome JJ midrange whoopass that they are delivering via my E34L + 12AX7S and don't wanna see those awesome characteristics go away. What do ya think?

The GT Mullards have that apparent mid range that the real ones are famous for. I say "apparent" because thay aren't emphasized in the mids. They are actually pretty flat across the audio frequencies.

Not having exagerated highs and lows gets perceived as pronounced mids.

All other current production 12ax7's seem to have accentuated highs, lows or both. So the mids always seem scooped.

Hi George, my Marshalls are all loaded with RFT ECC83, how can you compare the new GTMullard tubes with then?
