thanks DanBilly Batz wrote:Well that max dissipation applies to all the tubes individually. So if you have one cranked up to 5 or 10mA past that max current, it will at the very least, probably have a reduced life compared to the others. I guess it depends on how important that is to you. How long it will last depends on the quality of the tube I guess and how much you play the amp. You certianly can do it that way if you want. Or you can leqave it how it is and forget about it.

I did it with my 1987x and it sounded really good. The only problem was that it didn't have any clean tones. It had a ton of gain but it wasn't the JCM800 type of crunch ... more of a mega plexi tone.

Re: "One wire" mod
It is very easy to do on any of the hole non MV circuits. Here is a link for one version that sounds really good. Michael RT is also a member here and you can find several of his videos on http://www.marshallforum.com/index.php? ... ain.69543/. I tried his version on my 1987 build and it works really well. It adds plenty of extra gain but will still clean up with the guitar's volume pot. I ended up removing it later though because the amp had plenty of gain without it.

It looks like some of the pics in that link have been removed, but click on the Youtube icon in the thread and it will take you to his channel where you can listen to his amp with the one wire mod.

Re: "One wire" mod
Do you have a sound clip of your 1987 with this mod.Can it be on a switch so I can choose either stock or the mod maybe on a foot switch would be cool. Can this one wire mod be done to a 18 watt Marshall clone I like the sound of the 18 watt clone that trinity amps has and metros.I want to build some more take it to the next level after all I had learned with the help of you guys with my jtm 45 plus clone.Still sounds great just want a amp for the old hair metal songs too.

No soundclip unfortunately. I removed mine and went back to stock because I built a 2204. Did you check the clips in the link?
