You can get even better compression with this layout if you add an extra tube and use one side of it for a cathode follower after the fourth stage, then just move the wire that is connected to the 10k resistor from the plate resistor of stage four to the junction of the cathode and 100k cathode resistor on the cathode follower stage. You may want to adjust the 8.2k b+ resistor value slightly, to get the voltages back to where they were before adding the cathode follower stage, just as you would if adding a zero loss fx loop.

Also mess around the stage 3's cathode resistor value, you may want to cold bias it with a 39k or a 10k to get more defined overdrive with less feedback and hiss.

You should post a build pic, and a video too, to let us know what kind of tone we get from the layout
So the cathode follower add compression... cool 8)

By the way what do you use to make your layouts ?

Working on getting a new camera at the moment. Haven't been able to take any demo videos of the mods yet.

I use Adobe Illustrator.

I allready saw it came by on the SLO clone forum. Looking good, curious about some sounds.
At the moment busy building myself my 'ultimate marshall'. 1875 circuit with switchable 2204 stage, switchable jose master and PPIMV. Still on stage that i don't use, so maybe there will be a hotrodded gainstage added on the 2204 preamp or something. Have to figure that out.

The head on e-bay is version 4 with the added clean channel; Slightly different from version 3, more dialed in for the cathode follower stage added on the drive channel now.

The mains filtering is the same. You can either use two 200uF in series with 220k balancing resistors or one dual 50uF can with both caps wired in parallel.

Both ways = 100uF

What is the "effect" of the added filtering?

You must be referring to the 100 watt model with a 50uF mains filter, as the 50 watt model already has a 100uF mains filter.

If you upgrade the 100watt model to a 100uF mains filter then you would get what ezs mentioned:

I did that on my SIR clone, it does that a little and interacts with the resonance control better - but you have to have the power amp pushed.

It would be quite nice to hear clips - do you have a link? The old one is boken.
