Don't you mean "pf", not "uf"? I've got a 100pf in my Bluesbreaker currently. When I first bought it I think it was either a 250pf or 500pf. I think there's a lot of other things that affect the sound, so you might not have a hard and fast favorite value that works for every amp. I know a lot of people actually snip the bright cap off, but I think that's to drastic for my taste.

Those values are in picofarads not microfarads. 100p 500p 120p etc... Your missing whats proabably the most common brite cap value which is .005uF. Another thing is that if you crank the volumes to more then 6 or 7 it really doesnt matter anyway since they literally dial themselves out as the volume is turned up. So what your really talking about with brite caps is what type of responce do you want as you turn up the volume knob and what kind of high end do you want at lower gain settings. If you use the early 100p-500p value then your looking at a more high end sparkle that isnt increasing that much gain but instead makes the gain more present and jangly in the high end at clean or lower gain settings. If you use a .005 you get some real mid crunch really early as you turn the volume up which makes the onset of gain come much earlier then without it. If you want more gain or crunch you should go with a .005 tho if your always going to dime the volume or leave it anywhere near full it isnt going to make any difference. Personally I think having a small 100p-500p value, having .005u, and having no cap at all are all ligitimately different sounds that you could easily put on a switch or at the very least use a push-pull pot to kill the brite cap when engaged. As to whether you'd prefer the .005 or a lower value thats up to you to try out. Like I said if you keep the volumes high at all times it really isnt that critical an issue.

Billy thanks for the detailed explination. I usurally run my amp not going to far over 6 but usually before half. So the Bright cap is important to me....
Yes I made a mistake on the Farads.....should be pFarads....
Thanks again
