Langner schematic

Post by tanis4457 » Fri Jan 29, 2010 10:12 am

Hi,
Does anybody have a schematic that's close to the Vicious Rumors Langner tone? I was told there was a schematic floating around here somewhere. I'm currently building a 100 watt Master Volume Metro Head and I couldn't find any info with the forum search button.
Thanks,
Erik

That was a five stage one, and as far as I know, nobody has made it public. That would be a hard find!

I've been browsing the forums here and contacted Fortin after I saw that he got that white Langner marshall and he referenced me back here since he hasn't traced the circuit. Are there any amp schematics with a 5 gain stage setup that anyone could recommend for a good starting point?

You should talk to flemingmras, he does this mod that sounds killer very dynamic and well balanced.

It's a 4 stager that he does, but It will not get you the viscious rumours/forbidden sound.

I would like that tone myself Joey. I know you can pull it through.

yes there are 5 stagers on the market that will make a good starting point, and *some* that are kinda close to that 5 stage circuit from what I have seen of it. Although 5 stages are not necessary for super saturated gain like that... you can squeeze that kinda gain and controll out of 4 if you put your noggin to it. If this is your first time monkeying with amps, or with high gain circuitry, I suggest that you read up a lot! it is hard keeping high gain circuits stable if you don't know what you are doing.

I have heard that Fortin is very respected, and one of the nicest guys in the industry, I would not count on Fortin to offer anybody that mod out of respect to the original designer.

EDIT: there are also a lot of open source 4 stagers too that will provide tons of silky saturation. some I have even owned so I can attest to them ;)

Really? I figured you for kind of a Cock Rock kinda guy! judging by some video you sent me a while back that I still don't understand the purpose behind...... I'm more into some of the power metal players myself.

I've been trying to read up as much as I can, I've read the TUT vol 1 and there's a book I've been lent that's available through the AX84 forum that is very informative. From what I've ready about oscillation problems and high frequency problems, I think I'll plan on doing shielded cable for as much of the signal paths as possible.

Isn't Laaz Rockit annihilation principle, a langner marshall as well? that's what I've heard and I love that tone.

10 years ago I had one running into a Stratedgy 500 and 2 older Mesa 4X12s, pretty badass. Sold it for a hundred bucks, what I got it for.

Ive always been into the Vicious Rumors tone. Looks like Geoff Thorpe is playing MOORESOUND amps now. I saw them live a few months ago, his tone was better than ever. I think he used a langner dcp-1 into a langner rack mount amp back in the day.

send it, and I will take a look, but I'm not going to give you a scheme. I will tell you yes or no, and possibly point you in the right direction, but I will not give you values.

Thanks joey, it's confirmed. I'll unmod one of my amps and try it.

Thanks
